Next Snow Threats Follow Mild Stretch Across MA: See Latest Forecast

There are two chances for snow later in the week before colder weather grips the region once again.

MASSACHUSETTS — A respite from what has been a relentless cold and windy winter will be followed by a couple of chances for coastal storms late in the week and into the weekend.

The warmer stretch lasts a little longer early in the week with a sunny and seasonable Monday ahead of two days when temperatures will again be well above normal, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday's forecast is sunny with a brisk west wind gusting to 25 miles per hour and a high temperature of 38 degrees.

Tuesday and Wednesday are both looking quite pleasant for the dead of winter with sunny skies and a high of 44 on Tuesday, then a cloudy Wednesday when temperatures could approach 50 degrees.

Thursday will start warmer once again before a storm moves in late in the day. Early forecasts are calling for a period of rain or snow Thursday night into Friday morning — but at this point, the NWS said the formation of the storm is trending too far out to sea to deliver a direct hit to New England.

Sun returns Friday afternoon and lasts into Saturday with cooler temperatures before the next threat of snow arrives late Saturday into Sunday. This storm is also trending to be too disorganized for significant snow, but the NWS said it bears watching throughout the week.

Sharply colder weather is then poised to return next week, when highs will be back in the 20s.
