Outage Prevents DraftKings From Taking Bets Ahead Of Super Bowl

The Boston-based company and other Internet sites reported service interruptions ahead of kickoff of the Super Bowl.

BOSTON —DraftKings, FanDuel, CBS All Access and other internet platforms reported service interruptions that was preventing people from accessing their sites in several major cities, including Boston.

For Boston-based DraftKings, the interruption meant players were unable to place bets through its sports book on the biggest betting day of the year. In addition to its daily fantasy sports games, DraftKings allows betting on games for users in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virgninia, Tennessee, Michigan and Virginia.

"We are aware users are running into bet placement errors and we are working to correct this," DraftKings said in a message posted on its website at 5:22 p.m. "We apologize for the disruption."

The message had not been updated when the Super Bowl started after 6:30 p.m. DraftKings said outages were being reported in Boston, New York, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and other cities.

CBS, which is broadcasting the game, said it was working to fix "widespread interruptions" on its CBS All Access streaming service.
