Person Hit, Killed By Train In Clinton

CLINTON, MA — A person was hit and killed by a train in Central Massachusetts on Monday afternoon, according to a spokesperson for the transportation company CSX.

A CSX train hit a pedestrian on the tracks near Sterling Road in Clinton shortly after 12:45 p.m.

The company reported that there were no injuries to the train's crew and that the Clinton Police Department and local EMS responded to the scene.

It was not clear why the person was on the tracks.

"CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident and will continue to support local law enforcement as they complete the investigation," a spokesperson for the company wrote in a statement to Patch.
