San Gennaro Feast + Music Festivals With Shaq And Willie Nelson And 12 MA Events This Weekend

MASSACHUSETTS — It isn't so much a question of what there is to do in the Boston area and beyond, but rather, what should locals do?

Welcome to Patch's latest weekly roundup of highlight-worthy events across the city and surrounding areas. We've compiled them into one, easy-to-follow list, for your weekend planning.

This weekend, the San Gennaro Feast returns, featuring food and drink from North End restaurants and vendors, live music, dancing and culminating in a Mass and procession with the statue of San Gennaro.

The three-day feast will take place in the Paul Revere Mall on Hanover Street in the North End and will conclude on Sunday with a procession of Saint Gennaro, followed by an outdoor mass performed by the priests at St. Stephens.

There will be more than three dozen booths featuring North End restaurants inlcuding Strega, Bricco, My Mother’s Cutlets, Antico Forno, Prezza, Little Sage, Mother Anna’s, Cini, Forcella, Lucca and Giacomo’s.

There will also be a Beer Garden, an Espresso Martini Bar, live DJs, raffles and more. The musical entertainment through the weekend is American Idol Personality Ruben Studdard, Al McKay’s Earth Wind and Fire Experience and the Miami Sound Revue.

The feast is put on by the Saint Gennaro Foundation, which is a nonprofit foundation named for the patron saint of Naples, Italy.

Plus: The Breakaway Music Festival hits the Palladium on Friday and Saturday with highlight performances from The Chainsmokers and DJ Diesel, better known as Shaquille O'Neal. Then, on Sunday, the Outlaw Music Festival comes to Xfinity Center with Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow and more.
