These MA Hotel Restaurants Among The Best In U.S.

OpenTable just released its list of the 100 best hotel restaurants in the nation. These two Massachusetts establishments made the cut.

BOSTON, MA — Two of the best hotel restaurants in the country are located in Massachusetts, according to the online reservation service OpenTable.

Hotel restaurants from Massachusetts included in the roundup are:

  • Contessa in Boston: This swanky Italian restaurant is "perched atop The Newbury Hotel like a crown jewel," according to its OpenTable description. The restaurant offers "sweeping views of Back Bay and the Boston Public Garden" along with a menu that has "a wide variety of delicious options, from feasts of antipasti, carpaccios and pizzas, to pastas and large steaks." Contessa has a 4.8-star rating on 169 reviews.
  • Mooo Beacon Hill: This modern steakhouse in the XV Beacon hotel "blends sophistication with a relaxed atmosphere," according to its OpenTable description. Featuring a full bar and award-winning wine list, Mooo Beacon Hill promises to provide "a truly unforgettable dining experience." The restaurant has a 4.8-star rating on 4,805 reviews.

“Recently, hotel owners have seen the value in not only having restaurants as an amenity for their guests, but also in being a culinary destination for locals and even travelers staying elsewhere,” Chef Stephanie Izard of the Cabra–Chicago, Boka Restaurant Group told OpenTable.

“Travelers have so many options of places to stay, culinary offerings are a big part of making that choice,” she said.

OpenTable and KAYAK consumer research surveys show 73 percent of Americans would book the same hotel again because of the dining experience in its restaurant. Among other findings:

  • 58 percent of Americans feel that hotel restaurant offerings have gotten better over time due to the quality of food (60 percent), atmosphere (57 percent), and service (56 percent);
  • 47 percent of Americans have booked a trip to visit a specific restaurant.; and
  • 45 percent of Americans have found themselves posting more about their restaurant meals than the sights on their trip.
