Top 10 Private High Schools In MA Revealed In New Ranking
The state was well-represented in the national rankings.
MASSACHUSETTS — The Groton School, located on 282 Farmer’s Row, Groton is the best private high school in Massachusetts, according to a new ranking from Niche.
For the 2026 Best Private High Schools in America ranking released Monday, Niche evaluated 30,000 private schools on measures such as test score, academic performance and input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.

No. 2 Phillips Academy, 7 Chapel Ave, Andover, ranked 7th nationally;
No. 3 Commonwealth School, 151 Commonwealth Ave.,Boston, ranked 9th nationally;
No. 4 Nobel and Greenough School, 10 Campus Drive, Dedham, ranked 16th nationally;
No. 5 Deerfield Academy, 7 Boyden Lane, Deerfield, ranked 29th nationally;
No. 6 Milton Academy, 170 Centre St., Milton, ranked 34th nationally;
No. 7 Boston University Academy, 1 University Road,Boston ranked 46th nationally;
No. 8 Concord Academy, 166 Main St., Concord, ranked 52nd nationally;
No. 9 Middlesex School, 1400 Lowell Road, Concord, ranked 59th nationally;
No. 10 British International School of Boston,416 Pond St., Boston, ranked 61st nationally;
Niche also evaluated the nation’s 93,000 public schools in the rankings. The factors that were evaluated include academics, culture and diversity, parent and student feedback, teacher grades, clubs and extracurricular activities, resources and facilities, and athletics. The research is gathered through direct sources, the U.S. Department of Education, and Niche users.
