At Least 2 Tornadoes Touched Down In MA Amid Powerful Weekend Storm
The National Weather Service shared more information about the severe weather on Monday.
MASSACHUSETTS — At least two tornadoes were confirmed near Worcester on Saturday amid the weekend's powerful storm.
The National Weather Service reported a radar-confirmed tornado in Paxton, with a second brief touchdown in Holden after 4 p.m. on Saturday. Both tornadoes were associated with a severe thunderstorm that caused significant damage to the surrounding towns, including fallen trees and downed power lines.
Both tornadoes had EF rating of 1, which is classified as having estimated winds between 86 and 110 mph. Although the tornadoes in Paxton and Holden were on the lower end of that range, according to the NWS.

The NWS surveyed on Monday to confirm the tornadoes' "path length, path width, and assign the EF rating (and assess other damage)."
Many parts of Massachusetts were issued tornado warnings throughout the afternoon, including the area near Springfield, as well as Worcester, Shrewsbury and Marlborough.

Although NWS reported there was no evidence of a tornado in west Massachusetts areas like, Otis and Blandford.
Towns in the area also experienced significant damage. In Warren, police reported six tree incidents, including three on power lines and one on a vehicle. All of the incidents happened in a short period of time, police said.
In Holyoke, downed trees caused damage to homes and vehicles, according to police.
