2. WALK THIS WAY: The Acton Council on Aging hosts a walk in the woods, Summer Flora and Fauna, on Thursday, July 25, 9-10:30 a.m. Judy Peters will lead a 3/4-mile hike around Pratt’s Brook Conservation Land off Brewster Lane.
The terrain is wooded and uneven underfoot. Walkers are asked to your their best judgment in deciding if this hike is right for them. Wear comfortable, sturdy walking shoes and dress appropriately. Walkers will leave from the senior center lobby at 9 a.m. to walk the 1/4 mile to the conservation land.

3. INCASE YOU MISSED IT: Construction on the Acton Plaza Shopping Center began on July 22. Night work is expected to be complete by November.

4. STATE SENATOR NEWS: Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) participated in a Champions of Change event held at the White House on July 23. The event honored individuals for submitting a challenge at the National Day of Civic Hacking, a weekend-long event held on June 1-2 that brought together software developers of all skillsets to find solutions using publicly-released data to improve their community, state and country.
Eldridge, the only state lawmaker in the country to submit a challenge for the National Day of Civic Hacking, proposed the Help4OK project to build on local efforts for crisis management response based off a website for Oklahoma tornado victims. The easy-to-use website will be a reusable resource to those in need of food, shelter and medical supplies during natural disasters and other statewide emergencies.
