The telescopes were provided in April 2015 by Joseph Soydan of Boy Scout Troop 1 Acton as part of his Eagle Scout project. Working with the Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston, Joe modified 3 tabletop telescopes for durability and ease of use. Each telescope includes an 8-24mm zoom eyepiece, instruction manual, pocket guide to the constellations, and a carrying case.

The telescopes may be checked out for two weeks and renewed once if no one is waiting. Telescopes must be returned to the Circulation Desk. Borrowers must be 18 or older. While the telescopes can not be sent through the delivery system, Acton residents may place a hold if they are all checked out.
