Pedestrian Fatally Struck In Acton, Driver Surrenders
The crash occurred between 11:30 and 11:50 a.m. near the cemetery on Concord Road, police said.
ACTON, MA — After fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian late Monday morning, the driver called Acton police to surrender, the department wrote in a news release.
The crash occurred between 11:30 and 11:50 a.m. near the cemetery on Concord Road, police said. The pedestrian was treated at the scene but later died at the hospital, according to authorities.
Just days before Monday's crash, Acton Interim Chief James Cogan announced in a news release that the department charged an 85-year-old Maynard woman with leaving the scene of an Acton hit-and-run crash in November that seriously injured a 13-year-old boy.

On the evening of Nov. 2, Junior Soto, a 7th grader at RJ Grey Junior High School, was struck while walking in a crosswalk on Great Road near Harris Street, according to Acton police.
After extensive rehabilitation, the teen returned home just before Christmas with Acton and state police as his escorts.

Authorities added that after an investigation led authorities to Joan Hurley, 85, Acton police sought a criminal complaint charging her from Concord District Court, which was issued by the court on Wednesday.
Hurley is scheduled to be arraigned in Concord District Court on March 9, police said.
