• Two down, one to go: School Committee votes to eliminate two of four school reorganization options (actonexchange.org) — Acton-Boxborough’s School Committee has narrowed its elementary reorganization plan to two options, both closing the Conant and Merriam buildings and reshaping Acton schools to save about $1.9 million annually. One option keeps K-6 schools but dissolves Merriam and McCarthy Towne programs; the other creates grade-banded lower and upper schools in Acton, potentially reassigning students via lottery or new neighborhood zones. Residents can weigh in at a January 8 hearing before the final January 22 vote.
   

• Acton Nature Watch: Cold Moon (November 20 - December 18, 2025) (actonexchange.org) — Wildlife watchers across North, West, and South Acton have been spotting everything from fishers and coyotes to bluebirds and barred owls during the recent Cold Moon period. This roundup highlights where neighbors are seeing animals and ice formations, and invites residents to share sightings, learn rodent-proofing tips, and join Green Acton’s January 22 biodiversity meeting and Mass Audubon’s Christmas Bird Count.
