Andover Begins Work On Pedestrian Safety Measures
The town said the work will be done this fall to help improve an area that is a "key route for students" traveling to and from school.
ANDOVER, MA — Work is underway on a pedestrian safety project on Lincoln Street.
"Lincoln Street, an approximately half-mile roadway stretching from Shawsheen Road to Lowell Street, is a key route for students traveling to and from Andover High School and West Middle School," according to the town's website. "Improving pedestrian safety on this roadway has been identified as a priority in several town-wide planning initiatives..."
An updated plan calls for constructing a five-foot sidewalk on the west side of the street along with curbing on both sides to improve drainage, a crosswalk at Lincoln and Marilyn Road, and a temporary rubber speed cushion to slow traffic at the crosswalk.
