Andover Man Killed in Accident on I-93

The other driver was cited for speeding.

UPDATE: The Andover victim has been identified as David L. Vaughan, 40, of Andover.

An early morning accident on I-93 left one person dead and another in critical condition.

At about 3 a.m. Friday, State Police received an alert of a crash involving two cars on I-93 northbound near exit 45 in Andover.

One driver, David L. Vaughan, 40, of Andover, was given CPR on the scene but died.

State Police say Eoin Collins-Lyman, 27, of Tewksbury, was traveling northbound in a 2009 Honda FIT and changed lanes to avoid a slow-moving vehicle and then crashed into the median guardrail. Collins-Lyman was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and sustained head injuries.

The Honda rolled back into the travel lane, and it was struck by a 2005 Land Rover driven by Vaughan, who was then ejected from his vehicle. Vaughan was declared dead at the scene after unsuccessful CPR attempts.

Collins-Lyman was cited for speeding, marked lanes violation and operating to endanger.

The crash is still under investigation.
