Andover Middle Schoolers To Serve As Project 351 Ambassadors

Three Andover Public School eighth graders will serve in year-long ambassador roles for Project 351 in Boston.

ANDOVER, MA - Andover Public Schools will send three of its students to Boston in January to represent the town as Project 351 ambassadors. Their one-year appointments will include service learning, leadership development and civic engagement.

Project 351 is a nonprofit organization based out of Boston. Founded in 2011 by longtime youth advocate Carolyn Casey with help from former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, its mission is to build a movement of youth-led services within the Commonwealth’s communities.

Thomas Eraly (Doherty Middle School), Maya Nunez-Duncan (West Middle School) and Sophia Seng (Wood Hill Middle School) are the three eighth graders that were selected by their principals and teachers to partake in the ambassadorships.

“I know that Thomas, Maya and Sophia will set great examples on what it means to demonstrate kindness and gratitude,” said Dr. Magda Parvey, superintendent at Andover Public Schools.

Throughout the year, the ambassadors will engage in leadership development and community building, attend anti-bias and anti-discrimination workshops and visit schools and communities across the state as campaigners to help end world hunger.

The students were chosen based on their exceptional service ethics and reflections of Project 351’s values of kindness, compassion, humility and gratitude.

“Project 351 is a wonderful opportunity for students across the Commonwealth to engage in service learning and civic engagement,” Parvey said. “We know our students will represent APS with pride.”
