Andover Police Arrest Homeless Man For Home Break-in

He is also tied to another burglary that allegedly happened the same day

Andover police have arrested a 53-year-old homeless man for allegedly breaking and entering a home and holding a girl against her will back in July.

Peter M. Bardzik, also a level-three sex offender, has been charged with kidnapping, home invasion, breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony and two counts of larceny from a building.

The charges stem from two incidents that occurred on Jul. 31. Police say Bardzik broke into a home on Main Street and held a young girl against her will while he stole cash from the home.

The girl was not hurt, according to police.

“This is a deeply disturbing situation in which a dangerous career criminal home broke into a home and held a young girl captive,” Chief Patrick Keefe said in a statement. “We can only take solace in the fact that the girl was not injured and that this dangerous felon is already out of circulation.”

Investigators say they have also linked Bardzik to another burglary that happened on Harding Street at around 11 p.m. the same day.

Police say they found Bardzik’s fingerprints and DNA at the Harding Street residence. Officers also found items stolen from the Harding Street home at Bardzik’s mother’s home in Chicopee.

Bardzik will be arraigned in Lawrence District Court at a later date.
