ANDOVER, MA — Andover Public Schools officials, students and transportation company representatives were on hand Monday outside Andover High School for the unveiling of new electric school buses that soon will be in operation in the district.

Students and advisors from the AHS Environmental Club received tours of the new buses and got a ride in the new vehicles, which were created by Trombly Bus and NRT Bus.

The bus manufacturer said 10 new EV buses soon will be put into circulation in Massachusetts, representing the largest electric bus fleet in the Commonwealth.

"We are excited that our students will have access to these new buses," said Dr. Magda Parvey, superintendent of APS. "The district shares Trombly's commitment to providing clean and sustainable options for our families."

Tim Sheehan, senior vice president of operations for Trombly School Bus, said EV buses are an important step forward in the reduction of transportation emissions.

"Transportation emissions are one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas pollution, and by putting this fleet into service we can reduce our carbon footprint and support a clean and healthy environment for our students and drivers," Sheehan said.

Sheehan continued: "We thank Andover Public Schools and our partners, including Highland Electric and National Grid, for working with us on this important initiative to upgrade our fleet and continue providing outstanding service to our communities."
