The district was awarded $38,000, which will be used for security improvements at West Middle School.

ANDOVER, MA — The state recently awarded Andover Public Schools $38,000 to support security enhancements. The district is one of 41 in the state to receive funding as part of the Safer Schools and Communities Initiative.

The funding will be allocated for security infrastructure enhancements at West Middle School, according to a statement from the town. The improvements include new exterior doors and door hardware in key locations and video call boxes.

“We welcome the opportunity to enhance security at West Middle School as part of our overall initiative to foster a safe learning environment in the APS community,” Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Administration Keith Taverna said in a statement. “We look forward to working with Andover’s Facilities department for their guidance and implementation of these projects.”
