ANDOVER, MA — Andover Public Schools plans to update residents Feb. 8 on the planned new West Elementary and Shawsheen Preschool building, which will begin construction this spring.

The district will hold a virtual forum at 6 p.m. Feb 8 on the project, which was approved by town voters last June with over 75 percent of the vote.

The new West Elementary is expected to open for the 2024-2025 school year, while the new Shawsheen will take another year, the district said. Construction will begin this spring directly behind the current West Elementary, according to the news release.

"The purpose of the meeting on Tuesday, February 8th at 6:00 pm is to update the community, particularly families with students who attend West El, on the project and to discuss the next steps in the building process, including the changes in traffic patterns and drop off/pick up procedures that will take place during the construction," the district said. "We also will try to answer any questions you may have. Our architects and construction manager, as well as representatives from Andover Public Schools, will be at the meeting."
