Arrests Made in Andover BB Gun Shooting

Two suspects still at large.

ANDOVER - A 19-year-old Andover man and a juvenile accomplice are facing assault and robbery charges after Andover police say they beat and used a BB gun to shoot the victim in the torso, then stole his cash and cell phone.

Andover police arrested Jonathan Haywood, 19, and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile, both from Andover, charging them both with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon , armed robbery and larceny over $250, Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe said in a press release.

The juvenile was also charged with possession to distribute a Class C drug.

Shortly before midnight on Thursday, Andover police responded to 311 Lowell St. for a report of an assault with a dangerous weapon. During the investigation police discovered a juvenile victim was robbed and beaten by several men. The suspects and the victim are known to each other, police said.

During the assault, the victim was hit with a weapon and shot several times in the torso with a BB gun. The victim was robbed of his cell phone and cash. He was taken to Lawrence General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
