After a three-year absence, Andover institution Alpers Fine Art has reopened on Main Street. The contemporary-art gallery, which earned both "Best of Boston" and "Best of Northshore" awards in 2006, has just opened for business at 77 Main Street, diagonally across from CVS.

The current exhibit, called "Small Wonders," runs through Dec. 30 and emphasizes small, lower-priced paintings. The works come from more than 20 artists, including local some talents from nearby Lowell, Peabody, and Newburyport, and others from as far away as Baltimore and Paris.
