Author and TV Host to Talk at Garden Club Meeting

Roger Swain, red-suspender-wearing former host ofThe Victory Garden on PBS, television's longest-running gardening show, will present "Bringing the Garden to the Table," a program on vegetables and edibles, at the Andover Garden Club meeting to be held 10 a.m. on March 5, 2013, at South Church in Andover. The program will highlight gardens that taste as good as they look.

A graduate of Harvard College who went on to earn a PhD in biology from Harvard University, Swain spent 30 years as writer and science editor of Horticulture magazine. He also cohosted the HGTV television show People, Places, and Plants. He has written several books, including Earthly Pleasures, Field Days, The Practical Gardener, Saving Graces, and Groundwork.

The public is invited to attend the meeting. The suggestion donation for guests is $10. The meeting will begin with social time and refreshments, followed by a brief business meeting and the program.
