Deer Causes Highway Crash

The following is an excerpt from the Andover Police log:
Wednesday, Nov. 15
- At 10:19 a.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a loose dog on Greenwood Road. Police transported the dog to the animal hospital.
- A futon was discovered on the bandstand in Central Park at 11:14 a.m.
- A large tree limb was reported to be blocking River Road at 1:10 p.m.
- A pole was snapped in half by the gas company on Stevens St. at 2:04 p.m.
- At 4:06 p.m. Jose R. Valle, 30, 18A Everett Ave., Chelsea, was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), marked lanes violation and driving with an open container. The arrest was made on Danscomb Road.
- Randy D. Cormier, 53, P.O. Box 33, Dracut, was arrested at 6:12 p.m. on two warrants.
- Robert Russell, 63, 42 Eustis Ave., Lowell, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to obey traffic signals and failure to wear a seatbelt.
- At 5:28 p.m. police received numerous reports of a truck pulling down wires on Essex Street.
- At 6:39 p.m. the gate to Pomps Pond was reportedly left open for tree debris to be dropped off.
- Police settled down an angry cab driver at the train station at 7:54 p.m.
- At 8:21 p.m. resident of Lovejoy Road reported someone sawing in the woods behind the tennis club. The person was cutting down trees and said he had permission of the club.
- Police assisted the State Police with a multi-injury crash on Rt. 495 North after a vehicle hit a deer at 10:11 p.m.
