The following are excerpts from the Andover Police log. The log is open to the public.
Saturday, July 27
At 12:33 p.m., a caller on Pine Street reported that he was fixing up a punching bag and found bags of brown powder inside. It turned out to be just bags of sand.
At 1:51 p.m., a caller on Brown Street reported a white vehicle nearby and said the occupant exited the vehicle, walked into the woods and left a bag there. Police found drug paraphernalia in it.
Sunday, July 28
At 1:25 a.m., the Methuen Police Department reported that a man had jumped into the Merrimack River behind Jackson's Restaurant and swam to the Andover side. Police did not find the swimmer.
At 5:54 a.m., a caller on Brechin Terrace reported that his car was broken into and his GPS was stolen.
At 3:38 p.m., Jack McKelliget, 23, of 7 Stratford Road, Andover, was charged with assault and battery of a household member. The day before, a woman had called and reported that her son had hit his father, and police issued a warrant.
