Edlerly Woman Dies After Being Hit By 21-Year-Old Driver In Andover

No charges have been filed against the 21-year-old Milford woman, who stayed on the scene after the crash near Merrimack College.

MASSACHUSETTS — A 78-year-old Andover woman died Wednesday after being hit by a silver Hyundai sedan driven by a 21-year-old Milford woman on Elm Street in Andover.

The crash happened around 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of Whittier Street, about a mile from the Merrimack College campus. The woman was taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed. The driver, whose identity was not released, remained on the scene after the crash.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not released, was unconscious when first responders arrived on the scene, according to scanner reports. Rescue workers originally called for a MedFlight helicopter to transport the victim from the scene to a Boston hospital. The helicopter was diverted to Lawrence General Hospital, where the victim was taken by ambulance.
