Five People Who Made News This Week

Here are five people who made Andover-related news this week.

While the most notable Andover resident to make news this week was an alleged naked man strutting his stuff in public, we must not forget those that actually make a more positive impact in the community. From young business men to developing athletes, most of the top newsmakers this week upheld Andover’s good name.

  1. Andover’s state senator wrote an op-ed this past week about the need for financial literacy programs for the state’s youth. As teens start getting credit cards and ATM cards at younger ages and financial transactions become more complicated, Finegold, along with Sen. James Eldridge, argued that financial literacy education is more critical than ever for today’s youth.
  2. This Andover High School senior is both a champion lacrosse and field hockey player. She is now playing some of the last games in her high school career before going off to Siena College in Loudenville, NY, to play lacrosse.  She was this week’s Athlete of the Week on Andover Patch.
  3. This 63-year-old man was caught walking around the Danvers Motel 6…in the nude. This man was, by far, the most read about individual this week on Andover Patch. While he first claimed to be locked out of his room naked, motel staff found him naked, and in public, shortly after letting him back in his room.
  4. This young, up and coming actor, also an Andover High School student, will be starring in the Boston Children’s Theater production of “To Kill A Mocking Bird” coming up in May. Krendal-Clark will be playing Boo Radley.
  5. This young Andover native is among the today’s young and ambitious entrepreneurs, along with locals Andrew Varley and Nathan Rothstein. The three men, whose collective age is under 80, are launching a new socially-conscious start-up: Swellr. The company is based around promoting local businesses through the school system and, at the same time, raising funds for under-funded school initiatives through purchases at these local shops. Patel was quoted throughout the article.
