People are constantly producing some interesting news in Andover and many of these stories deserve notoriety among those in the community, at the very least. This week, a bully expert’s trip to Andover is highlighted, a police officer receives recognition and a dedicated town employee says goodbye.
Here are five people who made news this week:
- She’s the executive director of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center in the South Shore and she leads the state in research about the ever growing issue of bullying in our schools. She spoke recently at Doherty Middle School
- : As a founding member of a successful afterschool and preschool facility and campus, Andover SHED executive director Sydney Bailo said goodbye to the organization with the announcement of her retirement in March.
- The entire Andover Board of Selectmen honored this police officer this past month for his heroic action during a life-threatening medical emergency. Using advanced medical equipment, Ota restarted a man’s heart and saved a life.
- This local legislator, along with State Rep. Paul Adams, R-Andover, opposed a supplemental budget bill that was submitted at the last hour as well as excessive spending in the fiscal 2012 budget. Lyons, R-Andover, was elected this past fall along with Adams.
- Through teamwork and good relationships, Andover High School junior Kate Farnum has made a name for herself in both varsity lacrosse and field hockey, which was best in the state last season. She was Andover Patch’s Athlete of the Week.
