It’s Friday and we’ve got some ideas to help you plan a fun weekend but, at the same time, stay local. From a 5K race to a football game, we are showcasing some enriching experiences this weekend for Andover Patch readers.

Where/When: Saturday, Oct. 15, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Park, Chestnut Street and Bartlet Street
Why Go: Take a look at the wares in the Park this Saturday as many gather for another giant yard sale, put on by Andover’s Department of Community Services.

Where/When: Saturday, Oct. 15, at 8 a.m., Bancroft Elementary School
Why Go: The Bancroft Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is holding the first annual “Book It to the Finish” 5k race. The race encourages runners to dress as their favorite storybook characters raises funds for the PTO programs.

Where/When: Saturday, Oct. 16, 2 p.m., Memorial Hall Library
Why Go: Stop by the library on Sunday afternoon to check out the sounds pianist Joe Reid, mezzo soprano Sara Bielanski, and clarinetist Todd Brunel as they play jazz tunes from greats like Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman. They play classical numbers as well.
