It’s Friday and we’ve got some ideas to help you plan a fun weekend but, at the same time, stay local. From live music to yard sales, we are showcasing some enriching experiences this weekend for Andover Patch readers.

Why Go: The Girls Varsity Volleyball team is inviting the public for a “play day” at Andover high School on Saturday morning. Stop by and check it out.

Where/When: Saturday, Sept. 3, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Andover Historical Society, 97 Main St.

Why Go: Stock up on of all your locally produced fruits, vegetables and other food items at the Andover Farmers’ Market at the at their house at 97 Main Street. You may need the food over the next few days.

3. YARD SALES!

Where/When: Saturday, Sept. 3, various locations in and around Andover

Why Go: Go out and find a deal or two at a number of yard sales in the area. Find our weekend yard sale post at 3 p.m.

When: Friday, Sept. 2, 6 p.m., Phillips Academy

Why Go: Stop by the tennis courts at 6 p.m. tonight and play for free. Any level of skills are welcome.

5. LEE HAWKINS BAND

When and Where: Friday, Aug. 26, 9 p.m., Elm Street.

Why Go: Come stop by Palmers and check out the sounds of the Lee Hawkins Band. Find out more about them on their Myspace page.
