Foreclosure Activity Down in Andover

Andover foreclosure activity is down overall in the first four months of 2011.

One positive sign of local economic recovery came this week after the Warren Group released numbers that showed home foreclosure activity in Andover dropping significantly since this time last year.

The Warren Group, a respected provider of real estate data, recently reported that foreclosures throughout the state have gone down since this time last year. Throughout the state, foreclosure deeds, the last step in the foreclosure process, went down by 62 percent since this time last year. That represents roughly 2,700 less home foreclosures.

In Andover, foreclosure deeds have gone down by 90 percent, decreasing from 10 foreclosures in the first four months of 2010 to only a single foreclosure in the first four months of this year.

Foreclosure notices, the first step in the process, went down by 85 percent. In April of 2010, 20 foreclosure notices had already been given in the year. There were only four foreclosure notices as of April of this year.
