The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. recognized two community partners at its 4th Annual Spring Property Owners and Management Event for their collaboration with the GLCAC in helping the housing insecure.

During the event held on Thursday, May 8 at Salvatore’s in Lawrence, GLCAC also shared information about a variety of programs geared to support landlords including weatherization, lead prevention and housing subsidies.

“This annual event is an opportunity for landlords to learn more about the benefits of working with the GLCAC as we look to maintain and expand our partnerships with property owners,’’ said Vilma Martinez-Dominguez, the executive director of the GLCAC. “This is also a time for us to thank our community partners who go the extra mile to help families who are struggling to get back on their feet.’’

Project Home Again has helped 1,887 individuals and 1,007 households in 2024—many of whom have experienced devastating fires or long-term homelessness—by providing household essentials with dignity and care.

“Their staff and volunteers go above and beyond to personalize their support, creating warm, welcoming homes that reflect each family's unique needs and preferences,’’ said Kretcha M. Roldan, the GLCAC’s Division Director of Social Services and Housing.

Lennhoff Properties currently houses over a dozen GLCAC families. Their team works closely with the GLCAC staff to support tenants with complex needs stemming from medical issues, mental health challenges, or histories of homelessness.

“Their commitment to responsive communication and compassionate housing solutions makes them a true partner in our mission,” said Roldan.

Special thanks to our guest speakers: Kesia Moreta, the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program manager at GLCAC; Pascual “Pat’’ Ruiz, Director of Inspectional Services for the City of Lawrence; and Wayne Hayes, the co-founder of Heal Lawrence, who spoke about rental insurance.
