GOP Jobs Tour to Make Stop in Andover

The Republican leaders will be stopping by Andover on a tour to talk about job creation in the state.

Representatives Paul Adams, R-Andover, Jim Lyons, R-Andover, and Bradford Hill, R-Ipswich, in conjunction with Representatives Brad Jones, R-North Reading, Marc Lombardo, R-Billerica, and Donald Wong, R-Saugus, are pleased to announce that the 2011 G.O.P. Jobs Tour will be stopping in Andover on October 3rd.

Announced during a press conference at the State House, the Massachusetts House Republican Caucus will embark on a six-week Jobs Tour. The Tour will make initial stops in 7 communities across the Commonwealth, with additional dates and stops forthcoming.

With the state’s unemployment rate hovering around 7.6% and the national unemployment rate holding steady at 9.1%, the Republican Caucus will provide businesses and constituents with a platform to propose ideas for improving the job climate in the Bay State.

“The 2011 G.O.P. Jobs Tour will give residents across the Commonwealth a chance to share their expectations and concerns with elected officials relative to the job climate in Massachusetts,” said House Minority Leader Brad Jones (R-North Reading). “I encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity to have a candid discussion with Republican lawmakers about how we can improve the large and small business climate here in the Bay State.”

Joining Republican legislators at the Tour stops will be invited members from the business community, and local and regional Chambers of Commerce. Andover Representatives Paul Adams and James Lyons will be the local hosts. “We're committed to creating a more favorable climate for businesses that encourages robust private-sector job creation” stated Adams, “We welcome all ideas on the best ways to accomplish that."

"As a small business worker," Representative Lyons said, "I have experienced first-hand the struggles of business operators. I understand that our state's economy needs a vibrant small business sector to create new jobs. That's what the Republicans are advocating on Beacon Hill.”

"Through this tour” Lyons added, "we will continue to listen to the input provided by small businesses owners throughout the state, as we promote policies to revitalize the Massachusetts economy. We must control state spending, reform the bureaucracy, and roll back the sales, meals, and income tax hikes.
