Habitat for Humanity begins 2nd phase of affordable Hamilton homes

Applications now available for these 1- and 3-bedroom homeownership opportunities.

Essex County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that applications are available for an affordable homeownership opportunity in Hamilton. Located at 434-436 Asbury Street, Phase 2 of a 10-home development is beginning which will include 1-and 3-bedroom duplexes on the wooded property. The sale price will be $244,500 or less.

The application deadline is Monday, September 16, 2024. Eligible applicants will have incomes up to 60% of area median income which is adjusted for family size and will be chosen by a lottery system.

During the information session, potential applicants will learn about Habitat’s selection criteria and how to prepare a complete application. The selection criteria include housing need, ability to make mortgage payments of $1,600 to $2,050/month, and willingness to partner with Habitat, such as participating in the construction of the home and other Habitat projects.

All Habitat built homes are restricted to income eligible buyers in perpetuity.
