Emergency officials just upgraded a chemical spill off River Road to a teir 2 hazardous incident, requiring a more extensive response by the regional hazmat  team. Police received a report of the chemical spill around 11:45 a.m. this morning at Life Sciences, Inc., located on New England Business Center Drive. The building was evacuated shortly after.  Police Lt. James Hashem said that the chemicals involved in the spill are unknown at this time but said that it has been confined to one room. No injuries have been reported. Check back with Andover Patch for updates later in the day.
