The arrest of longtime fugitive and Winter Hill crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger has sparked memories of his victims in communities throughout Massachusetts. His terror reached Andover with the alleged murder of an Andover resident in the North End almost 40 years ago.

Andover resident Al Plummer, 49, was allegedly murdered by Bulger's gang in 1973 as part of a hit on the Indian Al gang. According Howie Carr's Bostonhitman.com, Bulger's Winter Hill gang was targeting gangster boss Indian Al on Commercial Street in the North End in 1973.

Unfortunately, Plummer, who area news reports say lived on Argilla Road, was driving the vehicle and was the only one killed in the hit, according to Bostonhitman.com.
