Irene Didn’t Slow Crime in Andover

The following information was supplied by the Andover Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from the log. The log is open to the public.

Friday, Aug. 26

  • At 9:48 a.m. a two-car accident was reported on Main Street in front of the Old Town Hall. No injuries were reported.
  • At 11:46 a.m. a hit and run was reported on North Main Street. A witness had provided the license plate number of the offending vehicle.
  • At 12:39 p.m. a caller reported that her car was broken into overnight on Sugarbush Lane.
  • At 1:02 p.m. a breaking and entering into a dwelling was reported on Wolcott Avenue. Jewelry was missing from the home.
  • At 4 p.m. a three-car motor vehicle accident was reported on Lowell Street. No injuries were reported.

Saturday, Aug. 27

  • At 2:07 a.m. police arrested Kelly J. Hannagan-Havey, 30, of 32 Creek Hill Drive, East Hampstead, N.H., on North Main Street. Hannagan-Havey was charged with speeding in violation of a special regulation and operating under the influence of liquor.
  • At 5:20 p.m. police arrested Shannon L. Dozois, 39, of 77 South Union St., Lawrence, on Salem Street. Dozois was charged with breaking and entering during the day and larceny under $250.
  • At 6:35 p.m. a caller reported four tires were stolen on Andover Street.
  • At 7:35 p.m. the railroad company reported a group of five or six teenagers that are jumping in front of trains as they are coming down the track. Police checked the area, but did not find the youths.

Sunday, Aug. 28

  • At 7:24 a.m. a resident reports a tree blocking the roadway on Wethersfield Drive.
  • At 7:53 a.m. police reported that the gas pumps at the Town Yard on Lewis Street were not working.
  • At 8:42 a.m. a down tree was reported on Salem Street.
  • At 9:35 a.m. police assisted the Fire Department in responding to a wire on fire on High Plain Road.
  • At 11:19 a.m. a down tree was reported on Abbot Street.
  • At 2:55 p.m. a down wire was reported on Lowell Street.
  • At 6:37 p.m. a caller reported three youths on the roof of Central Street school. The youths were spoken to about the matter.
  • At 7:55 p.m. police arrested Heidi M. Tuminowski, 50, 30 Enmore St., on Enmore Street. Tuminowski was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, an open container of liquor and an equipment violation.

Monday, Aug. 29

  • At 8:16 a.m. a caller reported a tree hanging over the roadway on Timothy Drive.
  • At 12:31 p.m. three catch basins were reported stolen on Jordyn Lane and Yardly Road.
  • At 4:36 p.m. a down wire was reported on Lowell Street.
  • At 5:38 p.m. police arrested Michael R. Conway, 54, of 160 South Elm St., Haverhill, on Highland Road. Conway was charged with possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 10:31 p.m. police arrested Carol A. Berube, 54, of 72 Memorial Circle, on Memorial Circle. Berube was charged with distribution of a class B substance, possessing a controlled substance in or on a school or playground and possession of a class A substance.
  • At 11:21 p.m. a caller reported several youths in the area of Algonquin Avenue shooting off fireworks.
