Judge Rules Lawsuit Involving Rape Case Has No Basis

A former Andover High School student who said she was raped in 2008 when she was 16 on a school trip in Germany brought a lawsuit against the town of Andover, two teachers and a travel company in connection with the incident, according to an article in the Eagle Tribune. 

But a judge recently ruled in favor of the defendants, saying that after the discovery portion of the case, it was realized that there was not enough evidence to make a ruling in the case that claimed teachers violated the student's civil rights.

The student, who was allegedly raped by another student from Vermont while on the trip, specifically said that she was mistreated by the teacher/chaperons.

“There was truly no basis for that claim,” he said.
