MassDOT Announces I-495 Ramp Closures In Andover For Rest Of The Week

The I-495 northbound exit 97A ramp and the I-495 southbound exit 97B ramp are scheduled to close nightly through Friday for excavation.

ANDOVER, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has reminded local drivers that highway ramps from Interstate 495 to Interstate 93 in Andover will be closing temporarily each night this week to allow workers to excavate and install electrical conduits and hand holes on the right shoulder of the ramps.

The closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily through Friday, officials said.

According to MassDOT, the I-495 northbound exit 97A ramp and the I-495 southbound exit 97B ramp are scheduled to close, though WHAV reports that the closures will take place "one at a time."

Officials said detour routes will be in place during the closures. Message boards, signs, traffic control devices and police details will be used to guide drivers, according to WHAV.

The station reports that MassDOT has advised drivers to seek alternate routes, reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through a work zone.
