MBTA's Haverhill Line Gets $1 Million Boost From State
The public transit system was included in the supplementary budget that was recently signed.

ANDOVER, MA — The state's supplemental budget signed this week by Gov. Maura Healey includes $1 million for the MBTA’s Haverhill Commuter Rail Line, according to a statement from Sen. Barry Finegold, State Rep. Frank Moran, and State Rep. Tram T. Nguyen.
“We worked hard to secure these investments to improve rail service on the Haverhill line," Finegold said in a statement. "Everyone knows traffic is getting even worse, so public transportation is more important than ever. We need reliable service at regular intervals so that people can truly count on the commuter rail. This is essential for our economy and our quality of life here in Andover and throughout the Merrimack Valley.”
The Haverhill line serves towns such as Andover, Reading, North Wilmington, Lawrence, and Wakefield.

“This supplemental budget represents the Legislature’s ongoing commitment to providing critical funding to support much needed investments into our public transportation systems," Moran said in a statement.
Nguyen added that the funds will go toward "important accessibility upgrades—improving station infrastructure so that all riders, including those with disabilities, older adults, and families, can travel safely and comfortably."
