Motorist Allegedly Threatens Cyclist with Weapon

The police log for Tuesday, March 12 contained several small incidents.

The following are excerpts from the Andover Police log. The log is open to the public.

Tuesday, March 12

At 7:23 a.m. a larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on Downing Street. The caller reported that his motor vehicle was broken into.

At 8:12 a.m. an officer reported a tree in the roadway on Haggetts Pond Road. The tree department was notified.

At 8:53 a.m. a two-car motor vehicle accident was reported on North Main Street. Minor personal injury was reported.

At 9:13 a.m. a caller reported a past breaking and entering into a motor vehicle on Appletree Lane.

At 12:28 p.m. an apparent act of vandalism on an Enfield Road fence was determined to be due to a deer or natural causes.

At 3:07 p.m. an assault was reported on River Road. A cyclist reported that he was riding down River Road and a motorist drove extremely close to him. After the cyclist gave the driver a derogatory hand signal, the driver pulled over and threatened the cyclist with a baseball bat or similar object.

At 8:18 p.m. police and fire officials responded to a report of a possible brush fire on Reservation Road at the cemetery grounds. An officer located a smoldering pile by the storage shed and fire personnel wet the area down.
