New Hampshire Man Held As Suspect In Lawrence Fatal Stabbing

A Nashua man was taken into custody in New Hampshire Friday and a warrant was issued charging him with murder.

LAWRENCE, MA — A New Hampshire man was taken into custody in connection with Friday's fatal stabbing in Lawrence, Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and Lawrence Police Chief Roy Vasque said.

At 9:44 a.m. Friday, Lawrence police were sent to a reported assault and battery in progress on Broadway. A 37-year-old Lawrence man was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Edgardo Carabello, 50 of Nashua, New Hampshire, was taken into custody later Friday. A warrant was issued charging him with murder.

Carabello will be held in New Hampshire "pending arraignment for being a fugitive from justice," officials said.

Once he is returned to Massachusetts, Carabello will be arraigned on the charge of murder in Lawrence District Court.

Lawrence and state police and the Essex District Attorney's Office are investigating the case.

The victim's name has not been released, pending family notification.

All people are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
