New Year's Celebrations and More on Whittier Court

Celebrate the New Year with a full roster of educational, physical and spiritual opportunities.  Come check out these special events and join in the fun.  Entire community always welcome pending space. Pre-registration required.

NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATION: Friday, Dec. 30; 1:30 p.m. $5. Advance tickets only.  Come help us ring in the New Year! There will be food, fun and entertainment with Russ McQueen, musician and comedian extraordinaire! Get a group of friends together to toast the New Year.

Line Dancing:  Tuesdays at 2:30 p.m.  Class runs weekly until Feb. 14.  Come try our newest class with dance instructor Valerie Cagnina.  First class audit free, join if it’s for you!

Trip: Amazing Journeys at the Boston Museum of Science IMAX: Tuesday, Jan. 17; 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. $49.00 Includes transportation, lunch and admission.

The Fix-It Shop:  Jan. 9 and 23; 1a.m. to 3 p.m. $4.00 plus parts for seniors (ID required); $10.00 plus parts for non-seniors/non-residents.

GREAT ART: Tuesdays, Jan. 10 to Feb. 14 (no January 24); 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. $15; Discover the secrets and symbolism of painting and sculpture. Western art from the 13th century to today.  Facilitated by Casey Coburn, art lover and writer.

MINDFUL MEDITATION: Tuesdays, Jan. 10 to Feb. 14; 7:30 a.m. to 8 am. $12. The practice of meditation soothes and refreshes mind, body, and spirit. Facilitated by Joanne Dahlgren, meditation practitioner.

FIRST STOP ON THE PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN TRAIL: NEW HAMPSHIRE: Wednesday, Jan.  11; 9:30 a.m. Free. Presidential primaries from 1952 to 2012. Richard Padova, PhD. instructor of history at NECC.

SPANISH CONVERSATIONAL: Wednesdays, Jan. 18 to Feb. 15. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. $20. Learn Spanish (or improve the Spanish you already know) in a fun, relaxed conversational group with native speaker Alba Bonilla.

INSPIRED RETIREMENT: SO YOU’VE RETIRED, NOW WHAT!? Wednesdays, Jan. 25 and Feb.  8; 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 pm. $4. Join a group of retirees (or soon to be) and share stories from individuals who have greatly enriched their lives.
