Nightly Closures This Week Of I-495/I-93 Interchange Ramps In Andover
MassDOT said the closures are part of a $4.96M highway lighting repair project at het interchange of I-93/I-495 in Andover and Tewksbury.
ANDOVER, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced there will be nightly closures of Interstate 495/Interstate 93 interchange ramps in Andover this week.
MassDOT said the closures will be done to install light pole pre-cast concrete foundations and spread asphalt millings for the base of attenuators by high mast light towers.
According to MassDOT, during overnights from Tuesday to Friday, Dec. 27-30, there will be alternate closures of I-93 northbound exit 40B and I-93 northbound exit 40A.

The closures will last from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day, concluding by 5 a.m. on Friday.
MassDOT said that the alternating closures of the exits will mean that one of the ramps will maintain access at all times.

During the closures, detours will be in place, according to MassDOT.
When I-93 northbound, exit 40A ramp is closed:
- Drivers on I-93 northbound will be directed to the I-93 northbound ramp (exit 40B).
- Drivers will detour around the clover leaf and should follow the detour signs.
When I-93 northbound, exit 40B ramp is closed:
- Drivers on I-93 northbound will be directed to the I-93 northbound ramp (exit 42).
- Drivers will continue on I-93 northbound, take the next exit (exit 42), make a right turn at the end of the ramp and then go to I-93 southbound on the left, then take the first exit (exit 40B) to I-495 southbound or simply follow the detour signs.
