Phillips Academy Andover Giving Campaign Surpasses $400M

The campaign has raised funds for the financial aid endowment, facilities, faculty, student programming, and institutes and museums.

ANDOVER, MA — Phillips Academy announced in November that its giving campaign, which launched in 2017, surpassed the $400 million mark.

Knowledge & Goodness: The Andover Campaign is due to run through the end of this year. As of Wednesday, it has raised $404.3 million

According to the school, the campaign has received contributions from more than 19,800 donors in over 80 countries.

"Our campaign has been nothing short of transformative and has touched every facet of the Andover experience, from the classroom to the research lab, from our prized institutes and museums to our dynamic campus facilities," said Amy Falls, board president.

The school highlighted how the funds raised during the campaign have benefitted, or will benefit, several areas within Phillips Academy:

  • More than $103 million has been raised for financial aid endowment.
  • Over $121 million in contributions has gone to new facilities like the Sykes Wellness Center, Chase House, Snyder Center, Pan Athletic Center and a music building that soon will be under construction. Funds also were used for the renovation of the Oliver Wendell Holmes Library, and there are plans to renovate the Peabody Institute of Archaeology.
  • Nearly $35 million is being invested in attracting, supporting and retaining faculty across 19 fields. The academy also has been able to expand its endowment for teaching foundations, instructorships and department chairs and initiate a new faculty innovation and professional development fund.
  • More than $85 million went to the Andover Fund and Parent Fund, which will enable the academy to address priorities like student programming, equity and inclusion, and health and wellness.
  • Funds from the campaign also helped improve key programs and enterprises across campus like the Tang Institute, Learning in the World, the Addison Gallery of American Art, the Office of Community and Multicultural Development (CAMD), and the Brace Center for Gender Studies.
