Photo of the Day: Ducks and Invasive Plants

Regular contributor Kristina Trott submitted this photo of ducks but, more importantly, invasive plants.

Local photographer Kristina Trott submitted this photo of ducks around some water chestnuts. Water chestnuts are an invasive species and Trott has reported that they are growing in numbers on Rabbit Pond, on the campus of Phillips Academy. "It outcompetes native plants, forms impenetrable mats, blocks light from everything below and lowers oxygen levels in the water. Also precludes swimming and boating," Trott said.
