Red Cross Assisting Family Displaced by House Fire

The Red Cross reported that they are assisting the family that has been left homeless after a basement fire Friday night.

The cause of a fire that started in the basement of a Lovejoy Road road home is still under investigation but, in the meantime, the Red Cross is helping out the family displaced by the fire.

The Red Cross reported that they are assisting the family of five that was left temperoarily homeless after their 3 Lovejoy Road home caught fire Friday at around 5:45 p.m. Nobody was injured in the fire.

Volunteers from the Red Cross responded to the scene of the fire Friday night to begin helping the family, which includes a newborn baby.

The Red Cross will be assisting with providing shelter as well as providing emergency funds for food and a portable crib for the baby.

The fire was contained in roughly a half hour and the house sustained smoke damage and some fire damage in the basement.
