RI Man In Critical Condition After Getting Hit On I-95 In Andover

Massachusetts State Police say the man had run out of gas on the highway when he was struck by a pickup truck.

ANDOVER, MA — A man from Rhode Island is suffering from life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a pickup truck on I-95 in Andover Tuesday morning.

State Troopers responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m. to find the man in the left lane of the Route 28 ramp.

At first, the man was conscious, telling police he had run out of gas before he was taken to Lawrence General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say his car was parked in the breakdown lane a little further south from the crash, and as of 8:30 a.m., the man remains in critical condition and his name has not yet been released, but police say he's from West Greenwich, RI.

Massachusetts State Police say the truck driver remained at the scene and tried to help.
