Spring Events on Whittier Court

Here are several diverse events offered this spring at the Andover Senior Center.

Men’s Outdoor Adventure Group: Mount Auburn Cemetery: Wednesday, June 1; and Ayer Bike Trail, Thursday, June 16; Both events meet at the Center at 9:30 a.m. and are free.

Special Forum:  Thursday, June 2 at 1 p.m. Free. Please join Debra Katt-Lloyd, Manager, NE/Merrimack Valley Region, Alzheimer's Association.  “Know the 10 Warning signs – Early Detection Matters”.

 My First Computer:Thursday, June 9; 1:30 p.m. $5. Talk about your expectations for computer use and find out what the basics are for your first computer or getting to first base with the one that is sitting in your house.  Follow-up sessions will be available pending interest. $5 each for private sessions.

Special TRIAD Program: Senior Safety Day: Friday, June 10; 9 a.m. Free. Please join the Chiefs of the Andover Police and Fire Departments and the Essex County Sheriff’s Department for this important program.  There will be a special demonstration from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit.  Free Photo IDs will be available for seniors attending this forum.

Women’s Outdoor adventures Group:  Haggetts Pond Hike: Tuesday, June 14; Hike 9 a.m. Difficulty Level 2+. Lunch at Casa Blanca at 12pm. call for information and to register. Free. 

Making the Most of Your Leisure Time: Thursday, June 16; 1:30 p.m. Free workshop explores the concepts of healthy aging, retirement planning and time management.

 

Great Cases - the Supreme Court in Action: Tuesdays, June 21 and 28; 2 p.m. $6; Don Robb, instructor; Explore significant cases in the development of the Supreme Court's ever-increasing impact on American life.

 

Senior Gambling: What You Need to Know: Thursday, June 23; 1:30 p.m. Free; Gambling: definitions, forms of gambling, perils and pitfalls. When does gambling move from a harmless pastime to a real problem?  Look at risk factors, warning signs, and what to do if someone you know might have a gambling problem. Consider how to prevent gambling from becoming a problem for us and our communities.

Monthly Support Groups are offered for Parkinson’s disease, pain management and Bereavement support.  Please call for next scheduled meeting and to pre-register.
