UPDATE: Suspect in Double Shooting at Shawsheen Plaza Held Without Bail

Suspect in double shooting last December at Shawsheen Plaza held.

SALEM - A 24-year-old Lawrence man was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing in connection with a double shooting at the Shawsheen Plaza in Andover in December.

In Essex County Superior Court on Friday, Luis Edgardo Morales Jr. was ordered held in jail pending a March 23 dangerousness hearing. Morales pleaded not guilty to charges of: armed assault to murder (two counts); armed robbery (two counts); assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and possession of a firearm without a license.

He was arrested on Thursday in Methuen by Andover Police and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.

Morales is the alleged shooting the Dec. 8, 2016 shooting of two men in the parking lot of the Shawsheen Plaza on North Main Street. The victims were able to make it to an apartment complex across the street and have a friend drive them to Lawrence General Hospital.
