Unemployment Rate Drops by 4 Percent in Andover

Nearly 100 more Andover residents have jobs than this time last year.

Andover's unemployement rate went down by 4 percent since April of 2010 until April 2011. However, Andover already shows some of the lowest unemployment rates compared to surrounding communities.

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development recently released a host of labor, employment and unemployment statistics for all communities in the state.

A 4 percent drop in unemployment in Andover represents nearly 100 more Andover residents with jobs since this time April of last year, according to the newly released state figures. The amount of unemployed in Andover dropped from 1,057 unemployed Andover residents to 961.

Andover's labor force was 16,835 as of April, which is an increase from 16,793 in April 2010.
