Updated: Cyclist OK After Accident

A cyclist hit by a side mirror was left with only minor injuries.

A Lowell woman was transported to Lawrence General after getting hit by the side mirror of a vehicle while cycling on River Road Thursday afternoon. Luckily, the woman only sustained cuts and bruises from the fall. 

Around 3:15 p.m. yesterday, police said that a Dracut man was driving west down River Road near Avery Lane when he clipped a cyclist, who was also traveling west on River Road, with his right side mirror.

Police said that the woman, while transported to Lowell General, eventually came into the police station on her own to get her bike.

Police did not cite the driver, who was driving a Chevy Impala, for any motor vehicle violations, according to Andover Police Sgt. Cecilia Blaise.
